Robert Barton Associates Ltd was established in 1995 as a niche recruiter to the UK investment and financial services sector, based initially in Edinburgh and then moving to Oxfordshire in 1998.
Robert Barton cut his teeth in executive search in 1987 with a national senior appointments agency. He was subsequently headhunted twice before arriving at his final corporate home where he accelerated through the ranks from consultant to director with this leading Scottish recruiter. Here he ran their Sales & Marketing, Financial Services and Legal divisions which catered for the recruitment needs of companies throughout the UK, and some globally.
His decision to set up RBA Ltd quickly proved to be fruitful working as a highly effective and innovative recruiter in sourcing and placing staff with investment houses, banking and life companies, and national and regional IFAs. This is where we applied the critical skills of being a jack of all trades with a strong ‘can do’ ethos. Against global recruiters we proved more than competitive placing senior fund managers, heads of marketing and a wide range of other key roles, many by direct headhunting approaches and networking.
Increasingly, clients were asking for a more tailored package so psychometric profiling became a new offering to add value to the process. Robert Barton trained with Thomas International and became a certified user on completion of the Advanced Practitioner level 2 course, together with additional training for Tests for Selection and Training (TST), and the newly released Emotional Intelligence tool.
